The aborigines, the indigenous peoples of Australia, have known about the properties of Tea Tree Essential Oil for many centuries. This Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia tree, which only grows in northern Australia.

There are many types of trees in Australia with medicinal properties, but Melaleuca alternifolia is the one with the most properties and most intense therapeutic power. This variety only grows in the part of Australia known as New South Wales, and in particular close to the Richmond river. Pure Tea Tree Oil is colourless but may occasionally be a shade of pale yellow.
