People say that a sky full of stars is a sign of good weather — and that every year, in November, comes the Summer of St. Martin. What do these two beliefs have in common? This is the story of a Roman soldier named Martin who, on a stormy autumn night, decides to help a homeless man by tossing chestnut shells into the sky — which, as if by miracle, turn into little stars and bring fair weather with them. Legend has it that on that day, the sun shone so brightly that it rained roasted chestnuts, along with a piece of starfish that Martin kept to use as a dish on special days.
