SCOLECITE

Scolecite is a beautiful, unusual stone. It is translucent, rarely transparent, with a silky sheen. Almost always it is white or colourless but also there are greenish, pink, yellowish samples. Often the stones are composed of radially-radiant beams with crystals-needles, or dense silken fibers arranged parallel to the vertical axis.

Meaning
The name of scolecite is derived from Greek "skolex", which means worm. The reason for this is the ability to wriggle under an open flame.
