AGAT
Agate is one of the most peculiar minerals on the planet. It is surprisingly diverse: scientists count about 150 varieties that differ in colour and chemical composition. The first mention of agate belongs to the III century BC. Objects made of agate are found in Egyptian tombs and ancient graves in England and the Urals.The value of agate was so great that it was considered worthy of decorating the chambers of emperors. It is known that agate was valued at the courts of at least two European lords — Basileus of Byzantium and, a couple of centuries later, the Austrian Habsburg dynasty.
Meaning
A variety of quartz, namely chalcedony aggregate with thin fibers, layered structure and striped colour. It was named after its location in the Achates river, now the Dirillo river, in southwestern Sicily. The second version tells us that “agate” means "happy, good, kind" in Greek.
Healing properties
Lithotherapists believe that the number of healing and magical properties of agate primarily include ability to soothe toothache; evoking good dreams for insomnia; stress relief; cleansing of the body in case of poisoning (not very severe); relief from frequent night cramps; relieving pain in cases of stomach problems — such as acute gastritis.
